God speaks to His children (prophetically) in a varied number of ways.  God uses dreams, visions, images, impressions, songs, words, colors, emotions/feelings.  God can use movies, videos, clips, writing on the walls, clicks, sounds, smells, groaning, the gift of tongues, discernment, and warnings to protect and guide us.  He uses His holy messengers angels, prophets and intercessors, during times of prayer and fasting, or the still small voice.  
 
The language of dreams can be obscure, seems meaningless and the information many times takes fishing out for full understanding.  Prayer is the key to understanding.  The Bible says that if we ask Him for a fish, He will not give us a stone. It is the nature of God to love us, relate with us and explain/communicate with us, His children.
